Size Guide: How to find the perfect glasses size online

Οδηγός Μεγεθών: Πώς να βρείτε το ιδανικό μέγεθος γυαλιών online

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive at EclipseLuxeBoutique is: "How can I know if these glasses suit my face without trying them on?".

The answer lies in three magic numbers that are already... on your glasses! In this guide, we will teach you how to decode sizes and choose with confidence.

1. Where to find your measurements?

If you already have a pair of glasses that fit you well, look at the inside of the left temple (the "arm" of the glasses). There you will see a series of numbers that look something like this: 52 □ 18 140.

Let's see what they mean:

  • 52 (Lens Width): This is the horizontal diameter of the lens in millimeters.

  • 18 (Bridge Width): This is the distance between the two lenses (above the nose).

  • 140 (Temple Length): This is the total length of the temple from the hinge to the tip.

2. How to choose based on your face width

The most important number to ensure your glasses are not too tight is the total front width. You can roughly calculate it as follows:

$(2 \times \text{Lens Width}) + \text{Bridge Width} = \text{Total Front Width}$

General size rules:

  • Small: Lens width under 50mm.

  • Medium: Lens width from 51mm to 54mm.

  • Large: Lens width over 55mm.

3. The Credit Card "Trick"

If you don't have old glasses to compare, there's a universal way to measure using any card (credit card, membership card, etc.), as the width of the card corresponds approximately to the standard width of a lens!

  1. Stand in front of a mirror.

  2. Place one edge of the card exactly in the middle of your nose.

  3. Observe where the other edge of the card ends in relation to your eye:

    • If the card ends at the edge of your eye: Then your size is Medium.

    • If the card extends beyond the edge of your eye: Then your size is Small.

    • If the card ends before the edge of your eye: Then your size is Large.

4. The Importance of the Bridge

If you have a narrow nose, choose a smaller bridge size (16-17mm) to prevent the glasses from slipping. If your nose is wider, look for 19mm or more for maximum comfort.

5. Temple Length: To avoid pressure

Most women's frames have a temple length of 135-140mm, while men's are 140-145mm. If you have a large face, make sure the temple is at least 145mm to "hug" your ear properly without pressing on your temples.

EclipseLuxe Tip: In the description of each product on our e-shop, we detail the measurements (Lens - Bridge - Temple). Compare them with your current glasses to make the perfect choice!

Conclusion

The right size not only offers style but also comfort in everyday use. A pair that "sits" correctly on your nose and ears is a pair you will love to wear.
